What we do

We support children with hearing and vision impairments in Sri Lanka.

Founded in 2012 by J.M. Wickramarachchi & Company, the WISH Foundation is dedicated to supporting children with hearing and vision impairments in Sri Lanka.
 
Our work is based on the belief that every child deserves access to the care they need to see, hear, and live life to their full potential. Through our programs, we provide essential hearing and vision care, ensuring that no child is left behind.

Hearing

We are dedicated to providing comprehensive hearing care services, including hearing tests, hearing aids, and cochlear implant support. Our goal is to ensure that every child with hearing impairments has access to the tools and resources they need to fully engage with the world of sound.

Speech

For children with hearing impairments, developing speech and language skills is critical. Our specialized speech therapy programs, including Auditory Verbal Therapy, help children enhance their communication skills, empowering them to reach their full potential in education and social settings.

Vision

We offer vision care services to children in need, ensuring that those with visual impairments receive the proper diagnosis, corrective eyewear, and support. Our aim is to provide every child the gift of sight, enabling them to participate fully in school and life.

Education

Education is the foundation of a bright future. We support children with hearing and vision impairments by providing educational resources, personalized learning plans, and rehabilitation services to help them thrive academically and socially. In addition, we coordinate employment opportunities for differently abled individuals, helping them transition from education to meaningful work and empowering them to lead independent lives.

Employment

We are dedicated to helping differently abled individuals find meaningful employment. Through vocational training, mentorship, and job placement assistance, we equip them with the skills needed to thrive in the workforce. Our goal is to create inclusive job opportunities that empower individuals with hearing and vision impairments to lead independent and fulfilling lives.

Awareness

Raising public awareness about hearing and vision impairments is critical to reducing stigma and ensuring early intervention. We conduct community outreach programs, workshops, and awareness campaigns to educate parents, teachers, and communities about the importance of early detection, treatment options, and the challenges faced by children with hearing and vision impairments. By promoting inclusivity and understanding, we aim to create a more supportive environment for individuals with disabilities, ensuring they can thrive.

Clear Vision

We have reached many underserved communities offering free eye exams and corrective eyewear for children with visual impairment. These efforts have allowed countless children to see clearly, enabling them to participate fully in their education and everyday life.

Unlocking Potential

Our hearing aid donation program gives children the ability to hear, transforming their developmental journey. By providing free hearing aids, we enable them to develop crucial communication skills, excel in education, and fully participate in social life, setting them up for a successful future.

Speaking with Confidence

Our specialized speech and AVT programs have helped hearing-impaired children develop critical language and communication skills. Through play-based therapy, we work with children and their families to improve their ability to listen, understand, and speak, giving them the confidence to succeed in social and educational settings.
