Objective: Empower children with hearing impairments to develop their speech and language skills through specialized speech therapy and Auditory Verbal Therapy (AVT).
Description: The Voices of the Future project provides comprehensive speech therapy and AVT services for children with hearing impairments, focusing on enhancing their ability to communicate effectively. Our experienced therapists use proven, play-based techniques to help children develop listening and spoken language skills, enabling them to engage more fully in their education and social environments.
Through individualized therapy sessions, children are taught to make the best use of their hearing devices, including hearing aids and cochlear implants, as they learn to listen, understand, and speak. The project also includes parental guidance and training, ensuring that families are equipped to support their child’s communication development at home.
Impact:
- Improve the speech and language skills of children with hearing impairments, allowing them to reach their full communicative potential.
- Equip families with tools and knowledge to support their child’s progress outside of therapy sessions.
- Foster confidence in children as they develop the ability to communicate clearly and effectively, improving their participation in school and social settings.
Long-term Goal: Our vision is to expand the reach of this program to all regions of Sri Lanka, providing access to high-quality speech therapy and AVT services to every child in need. We aim to create a network of trained professionals and resources to ensure that no child with a hearing impairment is left behind in their communication journey.
