On May 3rd, 2025, the WISH Foundation proudly carried out a meaningful outreach initiative at the SOS Children’s Village in Piliyandala, in partnership with Wickramarachchi Opticians & Hearing Care. As part of the ongoing “Pitch 2 Pitch” campaign, and with the generous support of the New Zealand High Commission, this program was designed to offer vital vision and hearing screenings to children and caregivers in need.
Altogether, 139 individuals—including children and their devoted guardians—received comprehensive eye and hearing check-ups. Through these screenings:
- 13 individuals were prescribed spectacles to enhance their vision,
- 105 were gifted UV-protective sunglasses to promote long-term eye health
The initiative was warmly supported by the SOS Village staff and honored by the presence of His Excellency David Pine, High Commissioner of New Zealand.
At the WISH Foundation, we believe that every child deserves access to basic healthcare, regardless of background or circumstance. This program was more than a one-day medical outreach—it was a statement of our commitment to bridging the gap in healthcare access across Sri Lanka.
